An inadvertent expat blogger behind Grove Canvas Line

Hey, I'm Sofia
I work as a project manager. I'm a parent and an expat based in Rome, Italy.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Italy wasn't in the plans laid out years ago. As with many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far bigger.
The opening months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more tangled than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt secure.
Why I Created Grove Canvas Line
Most information online was either high-level corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was missing was a genuine, everyday family perspective.
This site exists to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism-authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A general travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in Italy goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we find.
If you have questions about family life in Rome or anywhere in Italy, please feel free to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sofia
